Your data
Your library is stored locally. Export a JSON backup from Profile > Settings before deleting the app or clearing data.

If Trending, Search, or details cannot load, check your internet connection, wait a moment, and try again.
Privacy
Your library is stored on your device. TMDB receives search and catalog requests. Read the Privacy Policy for local storage and third-party data handling.

Where is my Watchlist and viewing history stored?
On your device, inside Watchly's private app storage. Watchly does not operate an account or sync server in the current version.
How do I make a backup?
Open Profile > Settings > Export Data, then choose a destination in Apple's file exporter. Keep the JSON file somewhere you control. To restore it later, choose Import Data and select that file.
Why does the App Store privacy label list data collection?
Watchly connects directly to TMDB for search, catalog details, and artwork. The label accounts for TMDB's published data practices. Watchly does not automatically upload your ratings, notes, watch history, or library to its publisher. See the App Store privacy disclosure for the categories and purposes listed.
What does Clear Data remove?
It removes your local movies, TV shows, episode progress, ratings, notes, Watchlist, Favorites, and generated News records. It cannot remove backup files previously saved in Files or another storage provider.
Why is a future episode not available to mark watched?
Watchly only lets you mark an episode watched after its recorded air date. An episode without an air date is treated as already available.
Why is my show's percentage below 100% when I am caught up?
The all-episode progress bar uses TMDB's announced episode total, which can include future episodes. Completion suggestions use aired, non-special episodes instead, so future episodes do not stop Watchly from recognizing that you are caught up.
Can Watchly play a movie or open a streaming app?
No. Watchly can show digital provider availability supplied through TMDB, but the current version does not stream content or open provider deep links.
Does Watchly synchronize between devices?
Not automatically. There is no Watchly account or cloud sync. You can move your records manually with Export Data and Import Data.
Before reporting a problem
- Confirm the iPhone is online and retry the failed screen.
- Record the Watchly version and build shown in Profile > Settings.
- Note the iPhone model, iOS version, screen, title, and steps that caused the problem.
- For a visual issue, attach a screenshot that contains no private notes or other sensitive information.
